When I started reading “You Can, You Will: 8 Undeniable Qualities of a Winner” by Joel Osteen, I was immediately attracted to the energy and encouraging message of his words. In fact, I stayed awake until midnight to finish reading the entire book and found it captivating! The key concept of running a race is woven through the chapters, as the setbacks and challenges of everyday life are revealed and obstacles to success are overcome.
Codependency, victimization and negativity are confronted head-on in this book. Osteen doesn’t sugar-coat his words; he speaks in authority and confidence in this area. Most likely his words will offend a few people and be quoted out of context. As he emphasizes in the book, Osteen doesn’t care what people think about him; he only cares what God has placed into his heart.
“You Can, You Will: 8 Undeniable Qualities of a Winner” by Joel Osteen is an encouraging book to read. After reading the book some might be looking in rear view mirrors, while others are looking ahead through a larger windshield. Read the book for an understanding of this perspective as you run the race God has prepared for you.
Upon completion of the book I had a new set of skills for running the race. These eight principals are designed to help you reach your full potential for God. Osteen uses examples from real life to clarify his point. Many times he says “studies have been done,” and it would be helpful for the reader if he named the source for the study. Additionally, when sharing a lesson from the Bible he writes “The scriptures say” and does not quote the Bible reference. It’s possible my review copy excluded footnotes, so I’ll look for this in the final printed book and I’ll edit my review.
I received this book free from the publisher. I was not required to write a positive review and the opinions I have expressed are my own.
